Nicholas Pooran Become 1 Player in T20 History to Surpass 150 Sixes in A Calendar Year

In the dynamic world of T20 cricket, where batsmen often dominate the game, Nicholas Pooran has taken the spotlight with an extraordinary achievement. The West Indies star has become the first batsman in T20 history to hit over 150 sixes in a single calendar year. With 151 sixes in just 63 innings so far in 2024, Pooran is setting a new standard for power-hitting that future generations will aspire to reach.

Playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Pooran reached this remarkable milestone during a match against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. In a dazzling performance, he scored an unbeaten 93 runs off just 43 balls, hitting seven sixes and six fours along the way. His ability to dominate the bowling attack in a matter of overs makes him one of the most dangerous players in the T20 format today.

This achievement comes nearly a decade after cricketing legend Chris Gayle set the previous record of 135 sixes in a calendar year back in 2015. Pooran’s current tally of 563 sixes in T20 cricket places him fourth on the all-time list, highlighting not only his skill but also the evolution of the format, where boundaries are consistently being pushed. With a total of 8,032 runs in 361 T20 matches, including two centuries, Pooran’s credentials as a leading batsman in this fast-paced format are undeniable.

Pooran’s exceptional form in the CPL has made him a sought-after talent in leagues worldwide. His ability to change the course of a match within a few overs has drawn attention from fans and teams alike. The fact that he has now crossed 2,000 runs in T20s this year is another feather in his cap, making him the second player ever to achieve this feat in a calendar year. The only player to have previously crossed this milestone is Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 2,036 runs in 2021.

In a format known for explosive performances, Nicholas Pooran is not just participating; he is reshaping the landscape of T20 cricket. His recent accomplishments serve as a reminder of how rapidly the game is evolving, where records are made to be broken, and new legends are born.
