Highest Opening Partnerships in IPL History

In cricket, especially the fast-paced IPL, getting off to a good start is super important. This all depends on the opening batters, the guys who come out to bat first. If they score a lot of runs early on, it puts pressure on the other team and makes it harder for them to win. But if they don’t do well, it can be tough to catch up later. Let’s look at the top 5 times opening batters in the IPL have scored the most runs together!

KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants) – 210 runs

These two batsmen for the new team Lucknow Super Giants went crazy against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022! They scored a whopping 210 runs together, with de Kock leading the way with 140 runs off just 70 balls, meanwhile, Rahul made 68 off 51 balls. The KKR bowlers just couldn’t take a single wicket in 20 overs.

Jonny Bairstow and David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) – 185 runs

Remember when Bairstow and Warner both scored over 100 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019? Bairstow scored 114 runs off 56 balls while Warner hit 100 runs off 55 balls, putting on a fantastic show, hitting a massive 185 runs together, helping SRH post 231/2.

Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn (Kolkata Knight Riders) – 184 runs

In 2017, Gambhir and Lynn tore apart the Gujarat Lions bowling attack. They scored a massive 184 runs together to set up a comfortable 10-wicket win for KKR. Lynn scored 93 runs off 41 balls while Gambhir made 76 runs in 48 balls. KKR scored a total of 184/0.

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal (Kings XI Punjab) – 183 runs

This match might be remembered for Rahul Tewatia’s amazing batting that took Rajasthan Royals to a thrilling win, but let’s not forget the brilliant start KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal gave Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2020! They put on a huge 183-run partnership to set a strong total of 223/2. Mayank Agarwal scored 106 runs off 50 balls, and Rahul smashed 69 runs off 54 balls.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway (Chennai Super Kings) – 182 runs

In 2022, these CSK openers went on to smash a massive 182 runs together! Gaikwad almost scored a century as he scored 99 runs off 57 deliveries, while Conway stayed unbeaten on a solid 85 runs off 55 balls. This opening partnership put CSK in a great position to win the match.
