Virat Kohli Wins ICC ODI Player Of the Year 2023

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli is back in top form, and the cricket world is taking notice!  The 35-year-old recently received the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023 award, a testament to his remarkable comeback after a period of inconsistency.

This recognition comes on the heels of a stellar performance in 2023, particularly during the World Cup held in India. Kohli dominated the tournament with a record-breaking 765 runs, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 673 runs in a single World Cup edition.

But Kohli’s brilliance wasn’t limited to the World Cup. Throughout 2023, he amassed a staggering 1,377 runs in 27 ODIs, averaging a mind-boggling 72.47 runs per innings.  He smashed six centuries and eight fifties with his highest score being an unbeaten 166.

This incredible run of form wasn’t just about big scores; it was about consistency.  He played a pivotal role in India’s Asia Cup victory, scoring an unbeaten 122* against arch-rivals Pakistan in a crucial match.

Kohli’s resurgence is a welcome sight for Indian cricket fans. After a few years of struggling to find his rhythm, he’s silenced his critics and proven his mettle once again.  This hot streak extends beyond ODIs – he recently claimed the Orange Cap (awarded to the highest run-scorer) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a whopping 741 runs!

Now, Kohli sets his sights on the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.  This talented batsman seems unstoppable, and Team India will be relying heavily on his expertise as they chase their second T20 World Cup title. With his current form, there’s no doubt that Kohli will be a force to be reckoned with on the world stage.
