Cricket fans, get ready to cheer on Team India in style! The much-awaited T20 World Cup is just around the corner, kicking off in June across the USA and the Caribbean islands. And to mark the occasion, India’s brand-new jersey for the tournament has been unveiled!
Adidas, India’s official kit sponsor, revealed the new jersey on Monday through social media.
What does the jersey look like?
It features the classic combination that Indian cricket fans have come to love – a solid blue on the front and back, with vibrant orange sleeves and stripes on the sides.
The jersey also proudly displays the BCCI logo with a star, a reminder of India’s historic victory in the very first T20 World Cup back in 2007. And of course, the iconic Adidas three stripes sit on the shoulders.
When and where will the jersey be available for the fans?
Excited to get your hands on this piece of cricket history? Fans won’t have to wait long! The official T20 World Cup 2024 jersey goes on sale starting May 7th, at 10:00 AM IST. You can grab it from your nearest Adidas store or their official website.
Now, let’s talk about the action on the field! The tournament is set up with four groups, each containing five teams. The top two teams from each group will then battle it out in the Super Eights stage, before the knockout rounds and the much-anticipated final.
Joining co-hosts USA in Group A are arch-rivals India and Pakistan, as well as Canada in their first appearance at the event as well as the European side Ireland.
Group B consists of the last two winners of the Men’s T20 World Cup in England and Australia, with the pair to take on Namibia, Scotland and Oman.
The West Indies are placed into Group C alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea, while Group D sees South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal fixtured against each other.
With a strong line-up and a brand new jersey to boost their spirit, Team India is ready to take on the challenge and hopefully bring home the trophy! The tournament starts on June 2nd, and India takes on Ireland in their opening match on June 5th.
The Hundred, a unique cricket competition in England, saw three Indian players participate this year. While one of them emerged as a champion, the other two-faced challenges in the tournament.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young Indian opening batsman, is shaking the whole cricketing world with his exploits in the ongoing Test series against England. Not just by scoring runs but by rewriting records and challenging established names like Virat Kohli, Jaiswal is leaving his mark in the number of sixes hit in Test matches.
James Anderson, the English bowling legend, just did something incredible! On Saturday, he grabbed himself a whopping 700 wickets! With that, he's only the 3rd bowler ever, and the first fast bowler ever, to take 700 wickets in Test matches. That's a fancy way of saying he's gotten rid of 700 batters in official Test matches, which are like the biggest cricket games.
