Highest Team Totals in T20 World Cup History

The T20 World Cup is all about explosive batting and nail-biting finishes. Unlike longer formats, every run counts, and teams go all out to post massive totals. Here’s a look at some of the highest scores in T20 World Cup history:

Sri Lanka (2007)

Back in 2007, Sri Lanka smashed a record-breaking 260 runs against Kenya. Sanath Jayasuria’s powerful 88 and Jehan Mubarak’s blistering 46 off just 13 balls left Kenya with an impossible target.

England’s (2016)

In 2016, England unleashed their batting might against South Africa. Jason Roy’s quickfire 43 off 16 balls set the tone, followed by Joe Root’s composed 83. This incredible display helped England reach a mammoth 230 runs.

South Africa (2016)

Interestingly, the same match in 2016 also saw a phenomenal batting performance by South Africa. Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock put on a 96-run partnership, propelling their team to an impressive 229 runs. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome England’s batting brilliance.

India (2007)

Remember Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes in an over? This legendary feat happened during the 2007 World Cup when India piled up 218 runs against England. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir’s opening partnership laid the foundation, and Yuvraj’s power-hitting finished the job.

South Africa (2009)

In 2009, South Africa showcased their batting depth once more. AB de Villiers’ classy 79 and Albie Morkel’s quickfire 24 off just 11 balls helped them reach a commanding total of 211 runs against Scotland.

The T20 World Cup has been a platform for explosive batting displays. These records stand as a testament to the batting prowess of these teams. Will these be broken in future tournaments? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure, the fans are eagerly waiting to witness the next batting masterclass!
