Ravi Bishnoi Becomes the Youngest Indian to Take 50 T20I Wickets

Ravi Bishnoi made history on Saturday, October 12, by becoming the youngest Indian cricketer to take 50 wickets in T20 Internationals. This achievement came during India’s third and final match against Bangladesh, where the team secured a dominant 133-run victory to sweep the series 3-0 in Hyderabad.

Bishnoi, who was playing his first match of the series, put up an impressive performance, finishing with bowling figures of 3/30 in his four overs. His crucial three-wicket haul not only helped India restrict Bangladesh to 164 runs but also cemented his place in the record books as the youngest Indian to claim 50 T20I wickets. At just 24 years and 37 days old, Bishnoi surpassed fellow pacer Arshdeep Singh, who previously held the record at 24 years and 196 days. Jasprit Bumrah, one of India’s top bowlers, is third on the list, having reached the milestone at 25 years and 80 days.

Bishnoi’s journey to this remarkable achievement has been nothing short of stellar. In only 33 T20I matches, he has taken 51 wickets, making him the 10th leading wicket-taker for India in this format. His consistency and ability to deliver in key moments have made him a vital asset to the Indian bowling attack. Bishnoi’s unique ability to deceive batsmen with his variations in leg-spin has earned him praise from both teammates and cricket experts alike.

In the match, India’s batting was equally impressive. Sanju Samson stole the show with a spectacular century, scoring 111 runs off just 47 balls. His powerful hitting, along with a rapid 75 from skipper Suryakumar Yadav, helped India post an imposing total of 297/6 — the highest-ever T20I total by a full-member nation.

With such a mammoth target on the board, Bangladesh struggled to keep up. Bishnoi’s brilliant bowling, along with solid contributions from other Indian bowlers like Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy, dismantled the Bangladeshi batting lineup. While Towhid Hridoy fought back with an unbeaten 63, it wasn’t enough to prevent a heavy defeat.

This match not only marked Bishnoi’s significant achievement but also highlighted the depth of talent in India’s current squad. With players like Bishnoi emerging as match-winners, India’s future in T20 cricket looks bright. As the team prepares for their upcoming Test series against New Zealand, the confidence from this clean sweep will surely give them momentum.

Ravi Bishnoi’s rise continues to be an inspiring story for young cricketers, and with 50 wickets under his belt at such a young age, it’s clear that this is just the beginning for the talented leg-spinner.
