India to host the Men’s Asia Cup in 2025

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has confirmed that India will host the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the T20 format. This decision comes after the release of an Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) document on Saturday, inviting bids for ACC sponsorship rights.

There will be four editions of the Under-19 men’s Asia Cup in this period, with each edition staging 15 matches. “The details, including but not limited to the schedules, dates, years, formats and/or venues, regarding the ACC Tournaments given below are tentative and may be subject to change at any time at the absolute discretion of ACC and without any liability to ACC,” the document mentions.

The rotating format for the Asia Cup will continue with Bangladesh set to host the 2027 edition, but in the ODI format. Both tournaments will feature six teams:

(i) India

(ii) Pakistan

(iii) Sri Lanka

(iv) Bangladesh

(v) Afghanistan

(vi) A Qualifier.

The Women’s Asia Cup, scheduled for 2026, will also be played in the T20 format. While these are the initial plans, the ACC has emphasized that all details, including schedules, dates, formats, and venues, are subject to change.

Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Association (ICA) has shown its support for former cricketers by announcing a one-time benefit for those who played between 10 and 24 First-Class matches and are over 70 years old. Additionally, the ICA will provide group health insurance coverage to members who have played fewer than 10 First-Class matches and are not covered by the BCCI’s medical reimbursement scheme.

These initiatives aim to provide financial and healthcare support to former cricketers who have contributed to the game.
