Jaipur wax museum unveils Virat Kohli’s statue

Cricket legend Virat Kohli’s legacy took a new form on World Heritage Day as the Jaipur Wax Museum unveiled a statue of the star batsman. The life-sized wax figure, weighing in at 35 kg, is the rusult of two months of thorough sculpting.

They(tourists) had a strong opinion that Kohli’s statue should be in the museum. The wax statue was unveiled today on World Heritage Day,” Anoop Srivastava, the museum’s founder director said.

This public enthusiasm cemented Kohli’s place alongside other cricketing greats like Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, whose wax figures already grace the museum halls.

The Jaipur Wax Museum boasts an impressive collection that transcends the realm of sports. Visitors can find themselves among some of the famous historical icons like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Bhagat Singh. Stars from the world of science and entertainment, including APJ Abdul Kalam, Kalpana Chawla, Amitabh Bachchan, and Mother Teresa, also have their waxen counterparts on display.

Kohli’s inclusion comes at an interesting point in his career. While he currently holds the title of the IPL’s highest run scorer, his team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), finds itself struggling at the bottom of the table. Their recent slump includes a string of six consecutive defeats.

The unveiling coincides with a period of mixed performance for Kohli. In a much-awaited clash with Jasprit Bumrah, Kohli’s dismissal early in the PowerPlay failed to set the tone for the match. Similarly, while his aggressive knock of 42 runs off 20 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad showcased his usual spark, it wasn’t enough to secure victory for RCB, who were chasing a record-breaking T20 target of 288 runs.

A week prior, Kohli managed to score his eighth IPL century against Rajasthan Royals. However, his efforts were overshadowed by Jos Buttler’s counter-century, which propelled RR to victory.

Despite the recent setbacks, the unveiling of the wax statue signifies Kohli’s undeniable impact on Indian cricket. The life-sized figure at the Jaipur Wax Museum offers fans a chance to stand beside their cricketing hero, a testament to his enduring influence on the sport.
