Dinesh Karthik Now Holds the Unwanted Record for Most Ducks in IPL History

Dinesh Karthik has found himself at the unfortunate top of an unwanted list in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He recently overtook Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell to become the player with the most ducks in IPL history, a duck being when a batsman is dismissed without scoring a single run.

This dubious record came during a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2024. While RCB went on to win the match by a comfortable margin, Karthik’s dismissal for a duck grabbed attention.

Looking beyond individual performances, RCB emerged victorious thanks to a well-rounded batting effort. Rajat Patidar‘s brilliant half-century (52 runs) and cameos from Cameron Green and Will Jacks propelled them to a total of 187 runs. This proved too much for DC, who were bundled out for just 140 runs despite a valiant knock of 57 runs from their captain, Axar Patel.

This win keeps RCB’s playoff hopes alive, while DC finds themselves on the edge of elimination. Even a win in their next match might not be enough for them to qualify, thanks to their poor net run rate.

Glenn Maxwell – 17

Rohit Sharma – 17
